Heading up a mid-size pharmaceutical company's Outsourcing & Contracts Management for 19 years, Rikke has over the years build a substantial expertise within her field.


Major Activities have included:

  • Establishment and management of:
    • R&D’s global outsourcing management function
    • Supplier evaluation and HCP/HCO transparency function in R&D securing compliance with Company's Corporate Social Responsibility programme called “Code of Conduct”
  • Development and execution of clinical sourcing strategies
  • Supporting the R&D organization in a variety of outsourcing and procurement tasks to fit their business needs (i.e. supplier relationship development and management, contracts and negotiation of commercial/legal terms and fees in various cost models (i.e. unit based, fixed costs etc.), CRO governance, processes and guidelines for RFP generation and proposal comparisons including balanced score card tools, CRO preferred provider selections, rate card and volume rebate schemes, issue escalation and resolution, etc.)
  • Dedicated focus to successfully reach targeted annual R&D savings on external budgets
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders and external suppliers to retain high level of satisfaction in relevant collaborations
  • Outsourcing/Contract related reviews and reports generation as needed to support the business cases during Company’s Due diligence M&A risk and opportunity assessments
  • Develop and maintenance of contract management system and tools e.g.:
    • Contracts repository
    • Tracking of progress on contractual documents
    • Monitoring KPIs relating to performance of the outsourcing team (volume, turn-around times, etc.)

 

Major Achievements have included:

  • Chairing R&D Sourcing Forum consisting of R&D senior management with primary aim of developing Company’s future sourcing strategy in R&D
  • Established the R&D outsourcing function by being a strong communicator, relationship builder and negotiator to ensure solid recognition and understanding of industry best practice outsourcing across 30-40 departments
  • Successfully drove corporate outsourcing strategy groups
  • Implemented high quality contracts standards generating legal, quality and commercial benefits
  • Analysed hundreds of activities with old and current CRO/vendors to assess the GDPR obligations across the entire R&D organisation. Ensured implementation of GDPR terms in related CRO/vendor contracts
  • Successfully achieved full transparency and aligned outsourcing processes with one of Company’s alliance development partner
  • Decreased annual outsourcing budgets 5-15% by negotiating savings (cost avoidance and reduction), optimising volume rebates and preferred rates as well as implementing fixed cost structures in clinical operating models
  • Achieved successful contractual outcome for transfer of a significant number of employees to CRO in compliance with the European “Acquired Rights Directive”
  • Awarded as key-talent at Compay and completed the final challenge with excellence
  • Appointed Team Lead to ensure successful integration of clinical outsourcing functions during aquisition of smaller biotech by Company
  • Turned Company into “No. 1 Client” twice at one of the Global Clinical CROs
  • Outsourcing processes successfully evaluated and accessed by MHRA inspection in UK
